Jerez Day 3 - Ready for the new season

The three days of testing at Jerez circuit have been very productive for the factory Repsol Honda riders, with Casey Stoner finishing on top again today with a best lap time of 1'38.780 and Dani Pedrosa, in third position with 1'39.157.

Both riders spent this morning preparing their bikes for a longer run. Dani made a race simulation, with 27 laps in low 1'40's, finishing reasonably happy with his performance and the bike behaviour. Casey also took positive information from a long run of 12 laps, of which 8 were in the 1'39's.

The next time that Repsol Honda riders will go on track will be April 5th at Losail circuit, for the first practice of the Grand Prix of Qatar, the first race of the 2012 season.

CASEY STONER 1st 1'38.780 "Today we were really pleased with the lap times we're running but I think we can still improve the bike quite a bit before the race here. Anyway we feel like we've made some progress on a track like this for us. …

Day 2at Jerez - Casey and Dani work on the wet settings

DANI PEDROSA 12th 1'49.822
"I decided to go out when it started raining properly because it's always good to get some information about the behaviour of the bike in wet conditions before the beginning of the season, and even more important with a new bike. Obviously, the set up of the bike was pretty standard on chassis and electronics, but I had good feelings riding it, the bike worked well and it gives me confidence. If it's not raining tomorrow we will go back to the testing program we had planned for today: basically to try some new ideas for the chassis and the electronics and if we have time I'd like to do a race simulation. Everything has been positive and smooth so far, so let's hope to close the pre season with a good result".
CASEY STONER 18th 1'51.856 "We realised that the weather conditions weren't really suitable for what we needed to work on today so we decided to wait for the heavier rain, which never appeared. We went out briefly…

Day 1 at Jerez - Casey Leads again

CASEY STONER 1st 1'39.146
"Today has been quite good, we did race distance with a soft set tyres this morning and we were getting quicker and quicker as we progressed but I think also the circuit was getting better. Then we put the hard tyre on and did a tyre comparison and we had very similar feelings to what we had in Sepang. We tried a few things with the chassis as the bike was proving slow to turn in the corner but in general it is working well especially at the end of the tyre life. On the last exit we did our fastest lap on a new soft rear tyre. It's been a good first day".
DANI PEDROSA 3rd 1'39.579
"It's been a pretty tough day, the mechanics had a lot of work to do in the garage and I've been stationary a long time, so it was not easy to get into the rhythm quickly. But I'm happy because we have a clear idea about the changes we need to do on the bike to improve tomorrow, especially on braking and the exits of the corners. We also teste…

Probably the most powerful fireblade ever?

Apart from the weirdo's who strap on a turbo to the side of the fireblade, The Gresini CRT bike uses the CBR1000rr engine to produce around 225 bhp. Thanks to Tenkate Racings WSB know how, this bike probably produces more power than their own WSB effort. The question is, how much will it cost for a mere mortal to tune his engine to the same specification?

HESD fittings

I upgraded the HESD bolts so they are all titanium. Its saved around 10 grams on the main bolt. Every little helps!
